Wolf Park to open animal care center

BATTLE GROUND, Ind. (WLFI) —  A new building will soon be available to the animals and guests at Wolf Park.

Organizers, community leaders and area residents, broke ground Thursday on the Alison Franklin Animal Care Center in Battle Ground’s Wolf Park. The facility will be equipped with a surgical suite and indoor and outdoor recovery areas. It will also have facilities to feed and care for wolf pups.
The center is named after the late wife of Ed Franklin, who pledged up to $200,000 to fund the project.

“Since my wife Alison loved it so much, I decided that I would do something for her and dedicate this building to her. She’d be very happy,” said Franklin.

Wolf Park will also be using this facility as an educational tool for visitors. The park will also be working with a veterinarian around the area in order to build a platform to teach vet students.
The Animal Care Center is scheduled to open up by the end of the year.

Wolf Park leaders say this center is special, since it’s built only for the park. They hope this will allow them to better understand wolf behaviors and open the door for future projects.
