NEAR ASHLAND, Ore. -- The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife confirmed on Friday that a wolf killed one sheep and at least one got near the Grizzly Peak area.
People hiking the Grizzly Peak Trail said they are not concerned about the recent attacks. Jacob Pew has hiked the trail many times and he said he's never encountered any large animals. "I think they are going to be more worried about us then we are of them," said Pew.
Wildlife officials warn there will likely be more incidents between wolves and livestock in Jackson County. "Wolves are indeed curious but they're extremely timid they don't want to be seen. Chances are you know if a wolf were to see a human they would get out of their area out-of-the-way and out of sight before you even know they were there," said Wildlife Images David Siddon.
We reached out to ODFW about the possible threat towards hikers but the department would not comment much further.
