Photo Crew Brings Tiger, Wolves and Bobcat to Packard Plant

DETROIT — Aug 17, 2015
A spokeswoman for the owner of Detroit's Packard Plant says photographers brought a tiger, bobcat and two wolves to the property without permission.

Kari Smith says the animals were trucked in cages to the site Monday morning.

Security guards noticed the animals after checking the photographer's staff for identification and permits. The tiger spent time out of the cage and on the first floor of one of the buildings.
Two animal trainers were part of the photo crew.

Smith says the photo "shoot was authorized ... the animals were not authorized." The photo shoot was canceled.

The plant has long been a symbol of Detroit's decline. Developer Fernando Palazuelo bought it during a 2013 tax foreclosure auction. He is planning to bring homes and retail to the blighted 40-acre property.
