To the Editor:
Re “Tapping Your Inner Wolf” (Op-Ed, June 6):
Carl
Safina offers us a new perspective on wolves. In the pack, the alpha
male is both protective and compassionate — characteristics that male
humans would be well served to emulate. Indeed, it is these very
qualities that should spur us to help wolves survive in their natural
habitat.
In
our ignorance, we tear apart their complex family units, hunting and
trapping wolves for entertainment and profit. Instead, we should learn
to treat them in the spirit of true alpha males, offering cooperation
and kindness.
