A hidden camera has recorded a wolf in a wooded clearing following a report by Radio Prague that signs of wolves have been found near the town of Doksy. Wolves have not been found roaming in the area since the 19th Century.

Environmental expert Miroslav Kutal said that there is likely just one or two wolves in the region. He added that it probably strayed into Bohemia from Germany or Poland, where wolves have been thriving.

He told Radio Impuls that conditions in Bohemia, particularly in former military zones and in mountainous border regions, appear good for breeding. He said this should be encouraged since wolves can regulate the deer population and draw tourists to the area. But he added that poachers could become a concern.
