Wolves on the prowl in Missouri?

Another item of random interest this morning:

KAIT in Jonesboro reports that Missouri authorities are testing to see if an animal killed recently on a farm in the bootheel of Missouri was a wolf. They are protected in Missouri, but not believed to have a breeding population in the state.

That gives me, if nothing else, an excuse to run some more wildlife photography from the wilds of Yell County, courtesy of  Mountain Girl. She says these are wolves at her feeder, but hasn't had a chance to interview them yet. They look bigger than the coyotes that also frequent the feeder, as well as raccoons, deer and more.

UPDATE: As luck has it, PBS has a special in January on the "coywolf" a hybrid of the western coyote and the eastern wolf.
