Just a week after the start of the state’s second wolf hunting and
trapping season, the Department of Natural Resources announced it
already plans to close one the six zones established for the hunt. The
agency says Wolf Harvest Zone 2 will close Wednesday afternoon, as a
result of 26 wolves being harvest in the area over the past week.
Zone 2 is located in the northeastern corner of the state. It had an established quota of 28 wolves for the season.
The state has set a statewide harvest limit of 251 wolves for this
year’s season, which will run through February or until quotas are hit
in all of the six zones established by the DNR.
