TRAVERSE CITY -- The Keep Michigan Wolves Protected
Coalition met Saturday night at the Park Place Hotel in Traverse City to
discuss its campaign, which aims to protect wolves from cruel and
unfair practices.
The campaign was launched in late December, in response to Governor Snyder singing a bill into law, which designates the Michigan gray wolf as game species. The coalition group Keep Michigan Wolves Protected formed a petition to block this and is hoping to overturn the law in the November 2014 general election. The committee must gather more than 200,000 signatures of Michigan voters by late March to put a statewide question on the ballot. This would allow voters to choose whether or not the state can create a wolf hunting season. The second meeting will be held Sunday at 4:09pm at the Peter White Library in Marquette. source |
