In
Northeast Washington, we taxpayers are paying sharpshooters from
airplanes to kill a wolf pack. This because a rancher complained that
wolves eat his cattle that are grazing free on public land. Eliminate
the wolves to save a few more hamburgers. What an unprofound (I can’t
say the other word) civilization we have.
It is just another sign that we are just a 0.7 I civilization, as
Carl Sagan said, on a scale where I = minimally accomplished, with
concern for the planet and all life; II = an accomplished
civilization with sustainable energies sufficient to exploit space, live
peaceably and sustain our planet from anything but huge meteorites,
nearby supernovas or sun meltdown. (There’s III, but it’s way out there
so far as to be unrecognizable by us primitives, proven again by the
Washington Fish & Game Dept.)
