At first it seemed like this wolf hunting season would never
come to Montana, now it looks like the season may never end.
Officials have proposed extending the hunting season in the Bitterroot Valley until April 1st. So far only three wolves have been harvested in the area along the Idaho border. The quota for that section is 18 wolves.
Originally the season was set to end December 31st, but has been extended to February 15th statewide.
The FWP Commission is scheduled to make an initial decision on the proposal on January 19th.
Hunters have killed 133 wolves so far; the statewide quota is 220. Some management units have met their quotas.
