NY open-space group wins suit vs wolf rescuers

LEWISBORO, N.Y. — A group that protects open space from development has won a lawsuit against the Wolf Conservation Center in Westchester County.
The ruling blocks construction of wolf pens on a town-owned reservation in Lewisboro.
The center shelters and breeds red wolves and Mexican gray wolves. It wants more space for its public programs.
Lewisboro had offered land to the wolf center last year in a $1.3 million lease deal.
The Westchester Land Trust said activities such as soil grading, tree clearing and fence building are prohibited there. The judge agreed.
The Journal News says the wolf center had already secured a donor and a state grant. It still has the option of appealing.
